St Mary’s Pupils Discover the Wonders of Science During British Science Week
Pupils from St Mary's Church of England Primary School and Nursery in Writhlington, Radstock have been learning about magnets, forces, rockets, stars and more as part of British Science Week (6-15 March).
On Tuesday 10 March, they enjoyed a special visit from the Explorer Dome, a travelling, immersive science experience set inside a portable dome. Using colourful light displays, projections and interactive experiments—including rocket “launches” and fascinating magnet demonstrations—children discovered scientific ideas in a fun and engaging way.
Brooklyn in Year 6 said:
“It was cool and I learned new things.”
Nova, also in year 6 said:
“It felt like we were in a real rocket in space.”
Roman in Year 4 added:
“It was fun.”
This was the first time Explorer Dome was experienced by the whole school.
Miss Clark, Year 6 teacher, said:
“It was an incredible experience bringing science to life across our curriculums, especially for years 5 and 6. Year 6 were also able to recap their knowledge learnt in the previous year.”
